Is it safe to give power of attorney to HR Block people? Desperate. Plz help?

Hi ,HR Block did my tax returns for 2007 and I haven’t received my refund yet. When I called them today, the agent told me to give power of attorney to him in order to call the IRS and see what is going on. I have never met this agent.Please help. What are the pro’s and con’s of doing so…
I would have called the IRS and the HR block for a 1000 times. But all the IRS says is that they have sent me a letter. But I have never received it till date. I asked them to resend it and it’s been monts and all they say is wait.

What kind of consequences is my ex-wife going to have? ?

What kind of consequences is my ex going to get for not proving her tax returns to my attorney on time to recalculate the child support amount for me? She’s been earning much more than me (three time more) for many years… and have been stalling and stalling… Is there any way to handle this situation faster and more efficiently?
