if i’m given IRS Power of Attorney (form 2848) for someone am i liable for their debts?
duran asked:
if a indvidual gives me POA with the IRS using form 2848 and i make installment arrangement on their behalf am i liable for the payments? the individual does have some money to make the payments. you can assume i am not intentioanlly misleadin cheating, etc… the irs. we are not trying to dispute the amount, just trying to help an individual settle his back tax amounts for a couple years.
is there anything i should be concerned with?
thanks.
the TP was a self contractor so either did not pay enough quarterly or none at all, but did files tax forms.

Can a 501c3 charge for services, and still be charitable? Using money to operate, but not profit a person?
martin asked:
Again, its not to profit a person, but to keep place running. We charge a lot let than most. We will receive grants and donor support as well, but its not enough to cover everything right now. Trying to figure out the tax code is a nightmare and attorney fees are not something we can do as we are just trying to get started.

Bankruptcy and income tax?
pumis_wolf asked:
My husband and I are on the verge of filing ch. 7 bankruptcy. We decided it was our last option about 9 months ago and met with an attorney. One question that has come up since that meeting is if filing will affect our next income tax return. (not receiving anything in return, only getting a portion, would the income tax filing be different ect ect.) The attorney is very hard to get a hold of other wise I would just ask him. I thought I might ask here first, then last resort, talk with the attorney. Please help if you know anything on the subject.

Tax return and back child support!?
tony k asked:
This is the first year that the Attorney General’s office flagged my wife’s ex to intercept his tax return for back child support. If he gets a RAL (Rapid Anticipation Loan) check will the IRS still send the refund to her?

Is it safe to give power of attorney to HR Block people? Desperate. Plz help?
ronney asked:
Hi ,HR Block did my tax returns for 2007 and I haven’t received my refund yet. When I called them today, the agent told me to give power of attorney to him in order to call the IRS and see what is going on. I have never met this agent. Please help. What are the pro’s and con’s of doing so…
I would have called the IRS and the HR block for a 1000 times. But all the IRS says is that they have sent me a letter. But I have never received it till date. I asked them to resend it and it’s been monts and all they say is wait.

Any attorneys out there? Tax lien situation whereby IRS has garnished wages to the point of poverty; remedies?
wava asked:
This info is for a freind whom has consulted w/ an atty. and stated that the only option is a settlement. This party does not have the money for a settlement nor enough assets to sell off to erase the tax liability. All wages garnished and personal asset(s) i.e. car has lien attached. Bankruptcy won’t work due to this is non-dischargeable debt. This person understands the need to pay and has a good job-salary, but the IRS has left her/him with $333 to live on ea. month. Bascially poverty-stricken. No doubt the gov’t has legal basis to due this, but, but, I believe it’s unfair/ unjust to propel a person into dire straits with collection efforts. If the garnishment was not at the present level e.g. leaving this person with say $1000 to live on monthly, it would be affordable. I don’t think the IRS… tax system, was setup to render a preson homeless or otherwise. Thank you for any assistance.

When reporting adsense revenue for websites on my taxforms, do I need to reveal any details about my sites?
Anon Y asked:
Here is my situation: I’m looking to make adsense money off of a number of adult sites. An attorney who is a family member files my taxes for me. I’m inexperienced with these things: Would there be anything that I would need to report (site name, description of site, etc) on any of my tax forms that could reveal the nature of these sites? Said family member would strongly disapprove.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on the matter!
